*****CHAPTER ELEVEN****

When Sunday finally rolled around, Michael and his parents decided to fellowship at Tiana's church, Soul-Saving Center. Both families' cars formed a mini-caravan as they made their way from the service and to Kendra's home.

Tiana's mom had done most of the cooking the night before. So, for the most part, everything was ready to eat. It only required reheating.

The four women made their way to the kitchen to put the final touches to the meal, while the four men retired to the study.

Mrs. Faison looked around the kitchen. “This is a very nice kitchen that you have here, Jill.”

Jill smiled. “Well, technically, this is my daughter, Kendra's house. She twisted my leg and forced me to move in with her....so that I wouldn't have to live alone after Tiana moved out.” She bent to place the pot roast into the oven, then stood back up straight. “However, I did have a hand in the remodeling efforts in here a few months ago. The redecorating, too.”

Kendra grinned. Her mom had had more than just a hand in her remodeling project. Jill had pulled up almost every video should could from the online version of HGTV and had tried to take over. Kendra had thought she was going to have to send her mom to temporarily live with Tiana, or one of their brothers, until the kitchen redo project was completed.

Tiana gave Kendra's arm a sisterly squeeze and shook her head. Smiling, she leaned into Kendra's ear and began to whisper. “I know what you're thinking, but don't go there girl. You know Mama is still a little hot about that remodeling stuff.”

Kendra grinned. She knew Tiana was right.

Mrs. Faison walked over to the sink and began washing her hands, preparing to help out. However, Jill was having none of that.

Jill clucked her tongue. “Nope, Angela. Have yourself a seat, right there on that nice comfortable barstool. You and your husband are guests in this house. These daughters of mine and I will get everybody served today.”

Angela Faison smiled. “Shoot, we're about to become family, Jill. Leave that guests business for somebody else and hand me that knife so I can chop up these tomatoes for the salad.”

Both Tiana and Kendra gave the two older women funny looks, as they began to work together and talk on and on to one another as if they were old friends. It took Tiana a second to realize the implication of Mrs. Faison saying they were about to become family.

Kendra giggled. She could tell the exact moment the light bulb had finally come on in her sister's head. This time it was Kendra who leaned in to Tiana's ear and whispered. “Sis, it sounds like somebody thinks you and the dear professor are about to get married.
